Example household. Your checklist ticks itself off as you go.

An example household with a bank, a 401(k) and their home connected.

Step 1

What Compound is

One private home for your family's money and life admin. Everyone gets their own login and the right view.

Compound adds up every account into one net worth, shows where the money goes, and keeps trips, orders and sizes organised. Each person signs in with their own email. What they see depends on their role.

Ownere.g. Maya Rivera

Everything: money, shopping, travel, family, and health if it's on. Invites and removes people.

Can't see another adult's private bank logins (they stay with that adult).

Adulte.g. Sam Rivera

The household's money, plus shopping, travel and family. Connects their own banks and email.

Can't invite or remove people.

Childe.g. Leo, 12 Rivera

Travel, their own shopping and sizes, and the family view.

Never sees money: no balances, accounts, spending or investments.

Children never see money. That's enforced by the database, not just hidden in the app.

Step 2

Accept your invite and sign in

Your invite link creates your household and signs you in.

  1. 1Open the link in your invite email. It works once and expires after 14 days.
  2. 2Name your household (for example "The Riveras") and add your name.
  3. 3Tap Create my household. You're signed in and taken to a short checklist.
  4. 4Next time, sign in at compound.galvyn.xyz with your email: a password, Google, or a one-time email link.

Link expired or already used? Reply to the invite email and we'll send a fresh one.

Step 3

Invite your family

Add your partner as an adult and kids as children. Up to 5 people.

  1. 1Go to Family (in the sidebar, under Finance).
  2. 2Under Invite a member, enter their email and name, and pick Adult or Child.
  3. 3Send. They get a sign-in link by email and join as soon as they use it.
  • Only the owner can invite, change roles or remove people.
  • You can change someone's role later. Moving a child to adult shows them the money.
  • On Family you can also mark accounts as joint or someone's own, so each person's share adds up right.

Step 4

Connect your accounts

Everything lives in Settings → Connections, grouped by type so banks and investments never blur together.

Health

Your family's records, results, medications and activity in one place.

via Apple Health, or a link you paste Read-only
  • Apple Health (iPhone)
  • SMART Health Links (e.g. from HealthEx)
  • PDFs and screenshots
  1. 1Open Settings → Connections.
  2. 2Under Banks & credit cards, choose Link a bank or card. Plaid opens; pick your bank and sign in there.
  3. 3Under Brokerage & retirement, choose Connect brokerage. SnapTrade opens; pick your broker or 401(k) provider and sign in there.
  4. 4For your home or a private holding, go to Net Worth and use Add an account, asset, or liability manually.
  • You sign in on Plaid's or SnapTrade's own screen. Compound never sees your password.
  • Everything is read-only. Compound can't move money or place trades.
  • Choosing what to share: when your bank shows a list of accounts, tick only the ones you want in Compound. You can come back later to add or remove accounts.
  • From your first link, Compound saves a net-worth snapshot every day, so your history starts now.

Step 5

Connect email and calendar (optional)Coming soon

Turns receipts and booking emails into your Shopping and Travel spaces, and brings in your calendars.

Coming soon for new households. We're finishing Google's and Microsoft's security review before opening Gmail and Outlook to everyone.

Step 6

What "Review" is

A short inbox for the few things Compound isn't sure about.

When two sources disagree, or Compound can't tell whether two items are the same (say, an order email and a card charge), it asks instead of guessing. You'll see "N things need a quick look" on a space's home.

  • Open Review, then confirm, pick the right value, or dismiss.
  • Every choice can be undone for 30 days.
  • Children only see items about their own spaces, never money.

Step 7

Health: get your records (optional)

Bring in visits, results, medications and immunizations for each person.

Each person's records are private to them (and a parent, for a child). You choose who else sees them.

  1. 1Apple Health (iPhone app): first add your providers in Apple's Health app under Health Records. Then in Compound on iPhone, open Health and choose Connect Apple Health.
  2. 2SMART Health Link from HealthEx: sign up at healthex.io and sign in (Google, Microsoft or CLEAR).
  3. 3Verify your identity with CLEAR so HealthEx can find your records automatically, or add each provider by signing in to its patient portal.
  4. 4Use HealthEx's sharing option to create a share link (a SMART Health Link). Their help center explains the current steps.
  5. 5In Compound, open Health → Import records and paste the link, or scan its QR code in the iPhone app. If it has a passcode, enter it when asked.
  6. 6No link? Upload a PDF or screenshot instead (Health → Import records → Upload a screenshot or PDF).

HealthEx is a separate US-only service, free for patients, and currently open to early users. Compound never stores a link's passcode.

Step 8

On iPhone

Adults use TestFlight. A child's iPhone gets the family build: register the phone once, then install.

Adults (13 and up, with their own Apple ID): open compound.galvyn.xyz/install and join through TestFlight, Apple's beta app. Nothing else to set up.

  1. 1Children can't use TestFlight, so their phone gets the family build. On the child's iPhone, open compound.galvyn.xyz/install in Safari and tap Register this phone.
  2. 2Tap the download button, then Allow. Open Settings, tap Profile Downloaded, then Install, and enter the phone's passcode.
  3. 3Safari shows "Thanks, your phone is queued". Within about an hour you get "Your iPhone is registered".
  4. 4Open compound.galvyn.xyz/install on that phone again and tap Install.
  5. 5Turn on Developer Mode (iOS 16 and later): Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode → On. Tap Restart, then Turn On after the phone restarts and enter the passcode. The switch only appears once the family app is installed.

The registration profile only sends the phone's device ID, model, iOS version and name. You can delete it afterwards in Settings → General → VPN & Device Management. TestFlight users never need Developer Mode.

Step 9

On Android

There's no Play Store app yet. Install Compound from Chrome and it works like one.

  1. 1Open compound.galvyn.xyz in Chrome and sign in.
  2. 2Tap Install when the banner appears. Or use Settings → Notifications → Install Compound, or Chrome's menu → Install app.
  1. 1Turn on notifications: Settings → Notifications on this device. Allow when Chrome asks.
  • No Apple Health on Android. Bring health records in with a SMART Health Link or by uploading a PDF or screenshot.
  • Family Locator can't track location in the background on Android yet.
  • No home-screen widget yet.

Step 10

Privacy and security

Read-only connections, encrypted tokens, and walls between households in the database itself.

  • Your household is private: only the people you invite can see it.
  • Bank and broker logins stay with Plaid and SnapTrade. Access tokens are encrypted at rest.
  • No ads and no data sales.

Step 11

Getting help

Stuck or something looks wrong? Tell us. We usually reply within a day.

Use Settings → Help & feedback in the app, or the contact form. You can come back to this guide any time from Settings.
